BBC Edinburgh Festival – Author’s Live Workshop

Venue: BBC at Potterrow

When : Friday 2nd August

On Friday Eleanor and I went to a Author’s Live at the BBC @ Edinburgh Festival. I had got us places on a graphic novel workshop after seeing a tweet the previous day. Neither of knew what to expect.

The workshop had author / illustrator John Fardell – Manfred the Baddie . John spoke about he creates characters showing pictures of Manfred the Baddie. The workshop was to create a superhero or villain and create a mask for that character.

Eleanor and I both managed to create a mask. Eleanor drew her character before creating her mask. Her work attracted attention from John. He gave her a few suggestions on what she could do it improve it.

The workshop was for 7-12 year olds. Eleanor was one of the eldest, she didn’t give much away but I think she enjoyed it. I did. It gave me a few ideas for my class when we return in August,
