An Actor’s Lament

Venue: Main Hall, Assembly Hall

Time: 14:30

An Actor’s Lament by Steven Berkoff appeared to be a must see. A couple of years ago we saw Berkoff in Oedipus which was stunning, plus he is a very talented actor. The play in which Steven Berkoff stars with Jay Benedict and Andree Bernard is an insight into a theatre actor’s life off stage. It mocks the theatrical world from everything from critics to the playwrights and the new celebrity actors. A lot of the dialog is in rhyme which adds to the mockery but can get tiresome.

The family were split on this show. Eleanor and I found it amusing whereas Terry and Matt just didn’t enjoy it. It is funny if not a little bit self indulgent on the actors part.

If you want to see a big name actor in the fringe then go and see it.
