Journey Home

We headed home on Thursday. After breakfast at the hotel with bags repacked after the previous days shopping trip, we said goodbye to our goldfish and headed to the airport. As I had checked in online we were able to print off our boarding cards and check in our luggage without waiting in a long queue so we were at the gate early for our flight. Instead of waiting for ages in Washington I chanced my luck at getting an earlier flight to New York. We couldn’t get on the JFK flight but we managed to get a flight to Laguada. So our luggage went to JFK without us while we flew to Laguada then spent 30/40 minutes in traffic between the two airports in New York. Delta organised this without any extra cost to us including the transportation in a Lincoln Town Car in New York. The kids have never been to New York but Matthew promptly fell asleep in the car and missed the journey through Queens.

We were still in plenty of time for our flight back to Edinburgh. Our flight was delayed by an hour due to the plane being in the wrong place, but we still managed to arrive back in Edinburgh on time.

It is good to be home but we are suffering from jetlag and post holiday blues.
