Jamestown

On Friday we decided to head North again to visit Jamestown. Jamestown was the first English settlement in 1607. As we had travelled through Norfolk and Hampton through rush hour we thought that travelling at a different time the traffic would be less – we were wrong. We got caught up in a couple of tail backs. It took us over two hours to get to Jamestown, but it was worth it. It took us a couple of hours to go round the living history museum. Eleanor learned to make rope from reeds in the reconstructed Indian village. The next stop was a reconstruction of the three boats that brought the settlers across. The kids loved exploring the boats. Our last stop of the museum was the Jamestown settlement.

It was excellent museum, better than we had anticipated. This made us think about visiting Yorktown and Colonial Williamsburg.

As we didn’t have time to do this on Friday we headed off to Prime Outlets in Williamsburg. It wasn’t as good as Potomac Mills but that could have been something to do with heat and the mall was outside.
