Day One

Our first full day in Washington was an early start. We were all awake by 6am. We managed to get up and about by 8am. We headed for the mall using the metro. Great helpful guy at Du Pont metro station helped us with our tickets. The Smithsonian musuems don’t open until 10am but the exception was the castle. A great place to start the day.

We spent the day at the Natural History Museum. Luckily we got in as soon as it opened as it got very busy later on. The best bits were the insects and bones on the second floor. It was very busy in the dinosaur hall – it was good but doesn’t compare to the Royal Tyrrell in Alberta.

We didn’t manage to see everything but enjoyed what we did. We were all fading by about 2pm. We headed back to the hotel to have a rest and enjoy the pool.

Despite the forecast being for storms the sun is still shinning.
